Presently, there is a tremendous amount of controversy and debate surrounding illegal file sharing of copyrighted material on the Internet. Imagine… more than 243 million files are illegally downloaded everyday through the use of illegal P2P networks!

P2P network programs are also commonly known to carry a vast amount of pornographic material. Eliminating the access to P2P network programs will not only eliminate the theft of copyrighted files on the Internet, but also shield the pornographic material within those programs.

More importantly, these illegal P2P networks are driving up Internet costs, destroying jobs, killing investments, funding organized crime, and draining revenues for many industries across the nation.

Since 1998, the number of Internet pirates has grown to 12 million and the entertainment industry has fallen tremendous victim to these pirates. Here are some facts:

  • The music industry loses about $4.2 billion a year.

  • The movie industry loses about $6 billion a year, with $500 million of that attributed to students in colleges and universities, where a majority of illegal file sharing takes place.

  • The software industry has a world-wide loss of $34 billion/year

  • The eBook industry, the newest victim, lost $1.5 billion last year.

The losses of this overall Internet theft costs U.S businesses as much as $250 billion a year. As this continues, industries are losing their drive to keep investing in these unprofitable businesses.

Lawmakers and law enforcement have yet to find the resources to meet this challenge and the efforts to execute a solution to peer-to-peer Internet piracy has remained in a standstill!
